Basolateral to canalicular transcytosis is impaired in ethanol-treated cells. WIF-B cells were treated in the absence or presence of 50 mM ethanol (EtOH) for 72 h as indicated. Live cells were basolaterally labeled for the indicated canalicular proteins with specific antibodies for 20 min at 4 °C. After washing away excess antibodies, antibody-antigen complexes were chased for 0 (A, a–f) or 45 min (B, g–l) at 37 °C in the continued absence or presence ethanol.
