Effects of MG132 on the amyloidogenic lysozyme variants overexpressed in HEK293 cells. Wild, wild-type lysozyme; I56T etc., the four variants. Transfected cells were incubated for 24 h and further for 12 h with (+) or without (-) MG132, and fractionated into the lysates and pellets, which, together with the media, were subjected to western blotting for lysozyme. Mock, the cells transfected with vector alone; GAPDH, the GAPDH bands in the lysate fractions analyzed as an internal control; Nrf2 lanes, positive control by using NF-E2-related factor 2. Each of the numbers in the (+) MG132 lanes under the second and fourth panels represents the intensity ratio toward its (-) MG123 control.
