Scheme 1. Minimal kinetic mechanism for PRORP2.

Scheme 1

PRORP2 (E) binds pre-tRNA to form an enzyme-substrate complex. The substrate is then cleaved (k2), resulting in an enzyme-tRNA-5′ leader complex. The products of the reaction (tRNA and 5′ leader) are subsequently released.
