Schematic diagram of trial design. Patients received birinapant 47mg/m2 intravenously weekly for 3 weeks out of 4 (downward arrows). Cycles were 28 days. Tumor biopsies were collected prior to Cycle 1 and within 12-22 hours after cycle 2 day 15 dose (wide upward arrows). Computed tomography (CT) imaging was performed within 28 days of starting cycle 1, and following every 2 cycles (narrow upward arrows). Treatment continued until disease progression in all patients.
