Effect of the five bioactive compounds on lipid accumulation in the 3T3-L1 adipocytes. The lipid accumulation in the 3T3-L1 adipocytes was measured using Oil Red O straining: (a) erycibelline; (b) 5-hydroxy-2-pyridinemethanol; (c) m-hydroxyphenylglycine; (d) ellagic acid; (e) 4-hydroxycoumarin; (f) Oil Red O pictures of the five active compounds. The cells treated with orlistat (20 μM) served as the positive control. The values are expressed as the mean ± SD of three experiments. ^∗ P < 0.05, ^∗∗ P < 0.01, and ^∗∗∗ P < 0.001 compared with the differentiated control. S1: erycibelline, S2: 5-hydroxy-2-pyridinemethanol, S3: m-hydroxyphenylglycine, S4: ellagic acid, and S5: 4-hydroxycoumarin.
