QOL was assessed using the abbreviated version of the World Health Organization QOL measure.3

Physical activity was assessed using the Physical Activity Scale for Individuals with Physical Disabilities.13

Paraplegia was classified as either complete (categories A and B) or incomplete (categories C and D) according to the American Spinal Injury Association Impairment Scale.12
