Fig.1 — Fluorescent activated cell sorting (FACS) analysis for the isolation of very small embryonic-like (VSELs) stem cells from total bone marrow (BM) cells. Sorting was based on the immunophenotype [Sca1+ and stage specific embryonic antigen (SSEA-1+)] of the VSELs. Events contained the presence of Sca1 and SSEA-1 (gate Q2), which represented the population of VSELs.
