Representative TUNEL-stained brain sections of a LIPUS-treated rat, FUS/MB-treated rat, and a LIPUS-treated rat following FUS/MB application. Quantification showed that rats treated with LIPUS following FUS/MB had significantly fewer TUNEL-positive cells than FUS/MB-treated rats. The total number of TUNEL-positive cells is expressed as the mean number in the sonicated region.
