Fig. 2. — MUNE was performed using EMG on rat gastrocnemius muscles 1, 2, or 3 months following tibial nerve transection and immediate repair (REP) or transection and immediate repair with daily electrical muscle stimulation (REP+EMS). Motor unit (MU) counts were significantly higher at every time point. At 3 months post nerve repair stimulated muscles has motor unit numbers no different than uninjured controls.
