A P. intermedia culture was diluted to an OD600 of approximately 0.1 in B-HK broth and then further incubated in 24-well plates with polyP3 at the indicated concentrations for 24 h. Heat-killed bacterial cells that were initially killed by exposure to 100°C for 10 min were included as controls.
