ADH2 mRNA rapidly dissociates from polysomes after glucose repletion. Cell extracts were made and fractionated by sucrose density gradient centrifugation as described in Materials and Methods and in more detail in reference 39. E. coli RNA was added to fractions 1 to 9 to serve as a reference for the efficiency of RNA purification and cDNA synthesis.
