The inactivation of luxU does not eliminate the effect of different luxO* variants on Pqrr-gfp reporter activity. GFP expression in strains harboring the Pqrr-gfp transcriptional reporter pTM268 and grown in SWTO medium was assayed at an OD595 of ∼2.5. Values with the same letter are not statistically significantly different (P > 0.05), whereas different letters indicate significant differences (P < 0.01), based on a one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and post hoc testing using Student's t test.
