Skin specimens were taken immediately after the termination of the experiment, fixed in formalin and embedded in paraffin. The biopsy specimens were H&E stained. All mice, except for the control mice, were wounded and infected with MRSA as described in Methods. Control mouse skin samples were collected on day 0, prior to wounding, infection or initiating any treatments.
