Activation of mTOR, p70, and 4EBP1 proteins in placenta during hypoxia treatment in the rat. There was a significant hypoxia‐induced decrease in mTOR protein activation (1.9‐fold; P < 0.05) (A). In contrast, there were no significant differences in p70 (B) or 4EBP1 (C) in the placenta of treated rats when compared to controls. Decreased mTOR activation was localized to the trophoblast in the junctional zone (JZ) of the placenta of the hypoxia‐treated animals when compared to controls. * 0.05.
