(A) Responses to acetylcholine in carotid arteries from eNOS ^+/+ and eNOS ^+/− mice incubated with vehicle (saline) or mouse recombinant IL‐6 (100 or 300 nmol/L). IL‐6 was associated with concentration‐dependent impairment of endothelial function in eNOS ^+/−, but not eNOS ^+/+, mice. (B) Responses to nitroprusside in carotid arteries from eNOS ^+/+ and eNOS ^+/− mice incubated with vehicle (saline) or mouse recombinant IL‐6 (100 or 300 nmol/L). IL‐6 was not associated with alterations in nitroprusside‐induced relaxation, suggesting that the impairment of acetylcholine response by IL‐6 were selective for endothelium.
