Experimental strategy to determine the effect of Y-27632 on discarded embryos and single blastomeres. A total of 784 discarded fresh human embryos were used. In the first part of the experiment, 526 embryos were collected and alternately allocated to blastocyst culture with, or without, Y-27632. In the second part of the experiment, 258 embryos were collected and used for blastomere isolation, and 1,192 sibling blastomeres of similar size were paired and allocated to blastocyst culture with, or without, Y-27632. Blastocyst formation and blastomere development were recorded.
