(a) The SMV and SMA are seen lying parallel to each other commonly in the second part of the duodenum. In a case of PD, the dilated duct of Santorini can be seen on the same plane. Although this is not conventionally described, one of the techniques of imaging the minor duct of Santorini is to scan the dorsal part of pancreas while simultaneously visualizing the SMV and SMA.
