Table 4. Identification of Leishmania in clinical and experimentally infected and field samples by the HRM analysis targeting hsp70 gene.

The hsp70 amplicons 1 or 2 of DNA from each sample were submitted to the HRM analysis. The results were compared with a previous identification performed by SSU rDNA sequencing [17] or g6pd PCR [18]. (a) fresh tissue from hamster inoculated with infected sample; (b) cell culture of the human isolated strain; (c) human fresh tissue; (d) human paraffin-embedded tissue; (e) experimentally infected BALB/c mice; (f) naturally infected Lutzomyia (Lutzomyia) longipalpis; and (g) naturally infected Lu. (Nyssomyia) whitmani; (N/A): not applicable.
