An average of 4 CFU of bacteria was inoculated into 10 ml of TSB containing 2.4% ox bile and 20% blood, and incubated at 37°C with shaking at 220 RPM for up to 5 hours. Bacterial counts were determined every hour by plating onto TSA plates. The CFU count shown represents the mean ±SD of three independent inoculated blood cultures.
