Examining the interaction of susceptible and less-susceptible bacterial populations after antimicrobial therapy is stopped. At a therapy intensity inadequate for the duration (AUC/MIC ratio = 100) of use, 4, 5, and 6 days of dosing were examined. By day 6, the susceptible population was almost extinguished.
