Seed regions. Seed regions were taken from a recent voxel‐based morphometry (VBM) study, which identified a set of pedophilia‐related gray matter (GM) alterations [Poeppl et al., 2013]. The right amygdala exhibited volume reduction in pedophilic perpetrators. GM deficits in the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) and left insular cortex were found to be correlated with pedosexual interest and sexual offense recidivism. Left and right temporoparietal junction (TPJ) as well as medial orbitofrontal cortex (mOFC) featured the less GM in pedophilic perpetrators, the younger their victims were.
