Accumulation of MBP in the cytoplasm as a result of translocon jamming. Under normal translocation conditions (A) pre-MBP is targeted to the translocon and rapidly secreted into the periplasm as mature MBP. When the translocon is jammed by either OmpA-GFP (B) or MalE-LacZ (C), pre-MBP builds up in the cytoplasm.
