Fig. 1 — Systematic review flow. A literature search was conducted in the PubMed Database in September 2014. The following keywords and their combinations were adopted: orphan diseases, rare diseases, neglected diseases, health technology assessment, HTA, pharmacoeconomics, reimbursement, cost effectiveness, evaluation criteria, multi criteria decision analysis, MCDA. Only full text articles written in English and concerning EU settings were included. A grey literature search was also conducted.
