Both amygdala VOIs, though not the OFC were activated significantly above chance by visual and gustatory stimuli, as well as classical conditioning. The right side was additionally associated with reward tasks and interoception, whereas the left side with recognition, associate recall and subjective emotional picture discrimination, as well as (explicit) memory tasks. The first function was shared with OFC, which was also associated with episodic recall and semantic monitoring.
