^aData for the random subset whose charts were reviewed (overall sample; n = 1,454 patients) were compared with a cohort of glaucoma patients identified by querying the Duke University Health System coding record using the Duke Enterprise Data Unified Content Explorer (N = 4,705 patients), and both groups were statistically similar. There was also racial similarity between the study population and the population of Durham County, based on 2012 estimates of Durham County and North Carolina state population demographics [5].
