The cluster is embedded between the three domains of the NifD subunit, with two conserved arginine residues arranged around one edge of FeMoco. The positive electrostatic potential field of the charged arginines R96 and R359 plausibly stabilizes the asymmetric charge distribution observed in the SpReAD analysis.
