At increasing walking speeds subjects exhibited higher step frequencies barefoot than shod. Barefoot step frequency was significantly higher at speeds at or above 1 m/s (1 m/s, P = 0.002, 1.2 m/s, P = 5e-4, 1.4 m/s, P = 3e-4). Inter-subject means and standard deviations are depicted. Paired t-tests were used for statistical comparisons. Significant differences are denoted with asterisks (*).
