Adoptive transfer of wild-type dendritic cells (DCs) impairs bacterial clearance and polymorphonuclear leukocyte (PMN) recruitment in DC-Tlr4-/- mice after cecal ligation and puncture (CLP). DC-Tlr4-/- mice were subjected to CLP without antibiotic administration. Immediately after CLP, DC-Tlr4-/- mice were intraperitoneally injected with wild-type (WT) DCs or Tlr4-/- DCs (0.5 million cells/mouse). Mice injected with WT DCs, Tlr4-/- DCs, or phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) were subjected to CLP. Peritoneal lavage fluid (PLF) and plasma were collected 18 hours after CLP.
