Schematic diagram of the syringe-aided inoculation method representing the three steps used to seed BMSCs into the scaffold. After fixation of scaffold into the lumen of a 2-mL syringe with the tacks, positive pressure produced by the plunger of the syringe was performed from one side of the syringe to make the BMSC suspension penetrate through the scaffold. Then, the syringe was rotated 180°, followed by positive aspiration from the other side of the syringe. In this way, positive aspiration was induced 10 (Group 10S), 20 (Group 20S), 40 (Group 40S), and 60 (Group 60S) times. Finally, the BMSC/scaffold compounds were carefully taken out of the syringe with a pair of tweezers, following pulling out of the tacks. BMSCs, bone marrow stromal cells.
