CXCL12 effects on neuropeptide expression. Injection of CXCL12 into the third ventricle caused a significant increase in the expression of enkephalin (ENK) in the paraventricular nucleus (PVN), with no effect on galanin (GAL). There was also no effect of CXCL12 on the expression of both orexin (OX) and melanin-concentration hormone (MCH) in the perifornical lateral hypothalamus (PFLH) and on the expression of neuropeptide Y (NPY) in the arcuate nucleus (ARC).
