(a) Multi-domain proteins participating in large macromolecular complexes, with inter and/or intra domains flexibility, have a strong aggregation tendency. To characterize structurally and functionally the entire biological complex (f), the protein can be divided into domains which can be stabilized by small ligands (b), DNA/RNA (c) and partner proteins (d,e).
