^aIn the OE-modified Weiss protocol, “design of session” included 18 statements, “instruction of session” included 27 questions, “nature of science” included 13 statements, and “science content in session” included six statements. The OE utilized a five-point scale for rating each statement. The lowest score was designated as 1 (not at all) with scores of 2, 3, and 4 reflecting a continuum toward the highest rating of 5 (to a great extent).
