All humeri are scaled to approximately the same size. Note that the trabeculae in larger‐bodied primates (e.g. chimpanzee, gorilla and orangutan) tends to be thinner and more densely‐packed compared with smaller‐bodied primates (siamang and spider monkey), which have relatively thicker trabeculae that are more spaced out. Humans are unique in having thin and somewhat densely‐packed trabeculae, but have a comparatively low trabecular bone volume (BV/TV) compared with other great apes.
