Classification analysis to identity the caller from a single acoustic feature. The results for the following six acoustic features are shown: (a) fundamental frequency (MF0), (b) duration (Dur), (c) maximum frequency (maxF), (d) Wiener entropy (WE), (e) mean frequency (MF) and (f) zero crossing rates (ZCR). For each feature, the left panel shows the probability distributions of an acoustic feature for eight animals. The distributions for males (Al, Be, Qu and Mu) were plotted by open symbols with dotted lines, whereas those for females were plotted with closed symbols with solid lines (Io, Sn, Th and Tw). The right panel is a graphical representation of the confusion matrix from the classification analysis. The average performance for classification is also shown for each feature. The chance level for the classification is 12.5% (=1/8).
