Testis explants are maintained in culture for at least 7 days. Testis explants (3 mm2) were fixed immediately after isolation (A) or cultured on agar slabs in serum-free media lacking T for 2, 4, or 7 days (B–D) followed by fixation and embedding in paraffin.
