hIPSC-derived cardiac myocytes grown on a plain glass substrate are very similar to mouse cardiac myocytes shown in Figure 2. Cell shape and intracellular α-actinin organization (red) are only locally regular, but disorganized inside individual cells and across the cell group. Gap junctions (green) accumulate in dots at the cell contacts. This fulfills a fundamental prerequisite of cardiac tissue function.
