Note. PFR = Problem-focused response, EFR = Emotion-focused response, EE = Expressive Encouragement. In the current study, Punitive, Neglect, and Minimize responses were combined to create a Negative Responses category. A small subset of participants’ responses could not be coded into one of the six categories for sadness (n = 1) and anger (n = 10).
