Utp14 does not stimulate the ATPase activity of Dhr1. Initial velocities of Pi released after addition of 1 mM ATP at RT in the presence or absence of the poly(A) added to either Dhr1, Dhr1 with Utp14, Utp14, or a control (mock) with other reagents described in Materials and Methods are shown. Each protein had a final concentration of 0.5 μM. “Protein” on the y-axis label refers to either Dhr1, Utp14, or the complex of the two. Similar results were obtained at 50 nM Dhr1 in the presence or absence of 200 nM Utp14 (see Fig. S5 in the supplemental material) or at a lower poly(A) concentration (data not shown).
