The “heterogeneity” tissue microarray comprises samples from 13 patients and includes tissue cores from the extraprostatic extension focus, “mid-portion”, and “deep” focus of pT3a prostate cancer, a separate pT2 focus, and from various histologically benign regions of the prostate. The Gleason scores of the extraprostatic extension component of the pT3a samples in the “heterogeneity” tissue microarray were significantly different from those of the separate pT2 foci.
