(A) Paraffin-embedded tissue sections of renal tissues were subjected to immunohistochemical (IHC) staining using klotho antibody. (B) The mRNA level of klotho was determined by real-time PCR. (C) Klotho expression in the serum was determined by ELISA. (D) Western blot analysis of klotho, Wnt1, Wnt3a, Snail and β-catenin expression in renal tissues. β-actin was used as an internal control. The intensities of the bands for these proteins were quantified. The relative expression of all controls was set to 1, and the values within the data set were compared to the respective controls.
