Effects of nitrogen and water inputs and presence of prey on average (±SE) fertility (no. of nymphs) and average (±SE) longevity (days) of Macrolophus pygmaeus. The plants were treated with high and low nitrogen inputs (HN and LN) in combination with high and low water inputs (HW and LW). Values followed by the same letters are not significantly different (> 0.05, ANOVA followed by Tukey's post hoc test). Capital letters (A, B) indicate the comparison between “Presence of prey” and “Absence of prey”. Small letters (a, b) indicate the comparison among the nitrogen and water treatments (No letter is present when the differences are not significant).
