Pr55Gag VLP production and gB export have similar sensitivity to cholesterol depletion. A and B, VLP titers (A) and anti-gB or -p24 immunoblot (IB) (B) on VLP fraction collected (as in Fig. 1) from cells treated or not with 10 mm MβCD, with or without cholesterol repletion. After MβCD or mock wash-out, cell cultures were incubated in culture medium containing 0.1% DMSO, 0.01% chloroform with or without 0.3 mm cholesterol (Chol). Equal loading was as in Fig. 1B.
