The mediums were minimal YNB medium (0.67% yeast nitrogen base without amino acids) and 50 mg ml−1 histidine supplemented with 1% glucose (YND), 1% glycerol (YNG), 1% sorbitol (YNS), 0.5% methanol (YNM), 1% ethanol (YNE), or 0.5% oleate with 0.05% Tween 80 (YNO).
