Haplotype network constructed using the median joining method. (a) Median joining network for 70 haplotypes of R. satarae reveal clear differentiation of the populations into geographical north–south groups and further structuring within the south cluster. Haplotype sharing is rare and present only between close populations. (b) Median joining network for 81 haplotypes of R. rattus indicates haplotype sharing between the central populations. There is no well-defined geographical structure.
