(a) A permalloy magnetic shielding chamber is settled in a cell incubator and provides a <200 nT HMF condition for cell culture. The GMF control cells are placed on the bottom layer of a steel shelf aside the permalloy chamber. (b) A three-axis Helmholtz coils system compensates the GMF at the center of the system and provides a <500 nT HMF condition for in vitro actin assembly. The GMF control samples are placed on a platform outside the coils system.
