The swimming and swarming motilities of wild SM9913, ΔepsT, ΔepsT/pEVepsT, and ΔepsT/pEV. For swimming assay, cultures of strains were inoculated onto the centers of plates containing 0.3% agar and the inoculated plates were incubated at 15°C for 3 days. For swarming assay, cultures of strains were inoculated onto the centers of plates containing or 0.5% agar and the inoculated plates were incubated at 15°C for 5 days. For the assay of ΔepsT with exopolysaccharide (EPS), 5 μl of EPS (2 mg/ml) were dropped onto the center of the plate before inoculation. Pictures are a representative of three independent experiments.
