The effects of rutaecarpine on IRS-1-PI3K-Akt insulin receptor mediated pathway were analyzed by Western blot with liver tissues. The 7 weeks treatment of rutaecarpine (25 mg/kg) or metformin (250 mg/kg) inhibited IRS-1 phosphorylation (A); promoted expression of PI3K p85 (B); and enhanced phosphorylation of Akt (C).
