Effect of Hsp 60 on the proliferation of dental cells. Proliferating cells incorporating BrdU are visible in brown colour. Hsp 60 does not modify the number of proliferating cells in the labial root (investigated territory bounded by black dashed lines on a and b, c) and in the enamel organ (investigated territory bounded by red dashed lines on a and b, d). The cell cycle analysis shows no difference between the viability of the dental cells in the treated and control groups, and the apical part of the tooth germs contains no proliferating cells. Though we detect several dividing cells in the territory of the enamel organ and labial root, the statistical analysis shows no significant difference between the numbers of BrdU-positive cells (P > 0.84).
