Three independent apoplastic extracts of mock and infected cotton roots at 0.5, 1, and 3 dpi were used for MDH analysis. Total soluble proteins extracted from infected cotton roots at 3 dpi were used as a control to assess the purity of the isolated apoplastic proteins.
