LFB streamlines diverge from the mesencephalic homeostatic bundles in the posterior hypothalamus, then travel laterally around the posterior limbs of the internal capsules just posterior to the anterior commissure (Ant Comm, yellow), and superior to the optic tracts (OpTr, purple) and lateral geniculate nuclei (LGN, pink). LFB streamlines enter the external capsule, from which they branch out to limbic targets in the medial temporal lobes. All streamlines are color-coded according to their brainstem nucleus of origin: turquoise, dorsal raphe; green, medial raphe; and blue, locus coeruleus. Streamlines running in close proximity to the LFB are shown: lateral dorsal tegmental tract (DTTL), Fx, imMFB, slMFB, VTTC, and rostral ventral tegmental tract (VTTR).
